March 7 : Fort Kochi

Kochi is a much smaller town. The bus stand is actually some km outside of Fort Kochi which is the real center of attraction. You can either use a bus, riskhaw or even a ferry to get to the fort. I opted for aRikshaw, which you can easily call via the Uber app and which is probably the most costly (roughly 500 INR) but also the fastest.
Fort Kochi has a more than 400 years long history of foreign occupation: being the very first European colony on Indian soil, it was first under Portuguese control, then Dutch and finally British. It only regained its independance in 1947. Besides the fort and the beaches there is not very much to see or do here, so I stayed only one day. The next day I got an early bus at 5 a.m. to Munnar, which took about 5 hours to arrive. Do I have to mention that it was a bumpy ride?
