August 21 : Tainan

Tainan, the fourth-largest city in Taiwan, is located further south along the west coast. As a smaller city, one day is typically sufficient to explore its highlights. I had the pleasure of discovering Tainan (and the following destination, Kaohsiung) with my local friend, Wu, whom I had met in India.

How to get to Tainan from Taichung

The entire west coast of Taiwan, from Taipei to Kaohsiung, is well connected by HSR and slower local trains. Situated in the middle of this route, Taichung and Tainan are easily accessible by train, making travel between the two cities straightforward.

Tainan

Tainan does not have a metro network, so the easiest way to get around the city is by bus – or, as I did, being driven around on a local’s scooter 🙂 .
