The capital of Malaysia is a metropolis with skyscrapers, malls and a well connected network of airtrains and subways.
How to get to Kuala Lumpur from Cameron Highlands
There are several daily buses doing the direct connection. The ride takes about 4 -5 hours, depending on traffic conditions.
Kuala Lumpur
Did I previously say that Penang reminds me of New York? Let me reconsider that… KL is big, is buzzing and full of life. Many modern buildings form its core, surrounded by the more cultural districts like China town. Navigating around the city is easy and best done either on foot or by using the trains.
Things to do
- Visit the Petronas towers, the most iconic building of this city. They were the tallest buildings in the world from 1998 – 2004. They are beautifully lit at night and you can join the tour to the top from where you have views over the city. I found the most interesting part was to enter the skybridge connecting the two towers on the 41st floor.
- Merdeka 118. This tower is actually the second tallest building in the world right now. It is not yet open for public visits though.
- Roam around the city, see some of its many malls and do some window shopping.
- Visit Chinatown where you find Rex KL, an unique little bookstore / art exhibition among other things. Also try Durian if you haven’t yet.
- Take a train to visit the Batu Caves in the north of KL. Plan 3 – 4 hours for this, including transport.
